The ski area of Le Tour (and Vallorice) is situated at the top of the valley and is furthest away from Chamonix, but it's worth the journey. This area is best suitable for beginners, but also has lots to offer for the more advanced skier/boarder. Le tour looks out over the Chamonix valley with all its different domains and is magical when the sun sets. From the top you can see the Emosson dam and look down into Switzerland. The pistes are wide and easy and relatively rock-free, with the Vormaine area being perfect for first-timers. The off-piste here is great for people who are not very experienced in riding powder, and there are lots of small jumps, gullies and natural half pipes where you can learn some stylish tricks. The back of Le tour is popular with more experienced skiers/boards for its steeper runs, great off-piste through trees and the possibility to find powder even a few days after a dump when other places are tracked out.
