The Aiguille du Midi cable car takes you up to 3842m, where you have a breathtaking 360 degree panorama over the Mont Blanc Massif. You can see the Swiss, French and Italian Alps and on clear days you can see the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and the Grand Combin. The Aiguille du Midi also forms the start of one of the most famous and longest off-piste runs in the world: the Vallée Blanche. This is a 20 km long run with a 2.000m decent in high altitude on snow-covered glaciers with crevasses, and offers some of the most spectacular scenery the Mont Blanc range has to offer. On the way you will see large séracs, crevasses and ice falls. There are four main routes of which the classical, 'voie normal', is the most popular. It is fairly straight-forward and not very steep, it's actually quite flat at some places. However do not let that fool you, as do ski past deep crevasses! The other three routes are technically more challenging with couloir skiing, so you need to be quite an experienced skier/boarder to have a crack at these routes. Because the Vallée Blanche is not marked or patrolled, it's strongly recommended to take a mountain guide with you.

First departure at 7:30 am and then every 15 to 30 minutes until 5 pm, last return from the top at 6 pm. Panoramique Mont-Blanc gondola is open, the last round trip from the top of Aiguille du Midi is at 3:30 pm, and last return from the top of Helbronner at 4:15 pm. Have a nice day. |
